Metropolitan Detail started in 2006 when two childhood friends, John Kleven and Benjamin Nussbaum, saw how little care most shops were putting into detailing. They opened a facility designed from the ground up for the work. John built one side of the shop around paint correction and ceramic coatings. Benjamin built the other around custom paint protection film.
The free loaner car came from that same thinking. If the crew needed a full day to do the job properly, the customer shouldn’t have to wait around for it. That idea still shapes how we work.
Our current owner joined in 2013, became general manager, and bought the business in 2025. The crew stayed, and a second suite was added so PPF and detailing each have a dedicated space. This year marks our 20th anniversary.
